To celebrate our Centenary Year, the FSPs of Brazil offered the catechists and pastoral workers in the archdioceses of Olinda and Recife and the diocese of Caruaru a course entitled School of Ongoing Formation for Catechists, subdivided into four parts, each of which lasted three days. The themes of these sessions were:
– The Catechumen Style: Kerygma and Mysticism
– The Pedagogy of Discipleship
– The Catechetical Methodology of Christian Initiation
– The Person and Spirituality of the Catechist.

The course was enthusiastically welcomed by the participants. In fact, 58 people signed up for it in Recife and 55 in Caruaru. The purpose of the initiative was to help catechists translate into practice some concrete changes with regard to the teacher-student relationship, one’s teaching style and the transmission of the Faith. On his part, Pope Francis recommends that catechists never forget that the first thing a disciple-catechist must do is remain in the company of the Master so as to listen to him and learn from him–a golden rule that is never outdated and should last a lifetime.
