The tombs
were opened,
and many bodies
of the saints who had died
were raised to life.
While the cries of “Hosanna”
echoing those we reserve for glorious human achievements,
our humanity comes into play:
the workday, family struggles, unspoken sorrow.
Everything is taken up and transfigured by the presence of the One
who “will not break a bruised reed” (Is 42:3).
Yes, our very humanity enters Jerusalem with him,
to begin a new era, a journey
that is not an escape from reality,
but immersion in it,
illuminated by a different light.
This time,
which transcends
our schedules,
will be marked by
the solemn and tender
rhythm of the liturgy,
by the silent power of the Word,
the fragrance of incense and bread,
and by small gestures,
yet full of eternity.
