The Word became Flesh
John 1:1-18
Eight Words to Begin Our Christian Journey
The whole Gospel of John is summed up in its Prologue.
There are eight foundational words in this passage,
seen from the perspective of a new story which still requires
that it be incarnated, lived:
beginning, word, life, light, flesh, glory, grace, truth.
A beginning in eternal becoming;
a Word that says everything, even when silent;
a life that includes everything, that has flavor;
a light that does not clash with darkness, is not violent,
but simply exists for no other reason than that light is.
A light that takes shape in flesh:
real flesh, fragile and tender,
poor and magnificent,
capable of giving and safeguarding
its own existence and that of others.
All this gives glory to life,
because glory is the meaning
you give to your story.
