The FSPs of Boston, USA, celebrated World Communications Day on 24 April–a little early since the official date this year is 8 May.
The event opened with a Mass, followed by refreshments and then a panel discussion on the question: What Is Mercy and How Do We Communicate It?
The panelists included:
- Sr. Hosea Rupprecht, fsp: director of the East Coast Pauline Center for Media Studies, co-host of Searchlight (a movie review show on Catholic TV), and author of How To Watch Movies with Kids
- Jaymie Wolfe: editor of books for children and teens at our FSP Publishing House in Boston; biweekly columnist for The Pilot, and author of Adoption: Room for One More?
- Christopher Kelley: former station manager for Radio WQOM 1060, currently serving as Chief Communications and Marketing Officer of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
- George Martell: former photographer for the Boston Herald, currently the photographer for the Archdiocese of Boston. His work has appeared in publications all over the world.
The panelists reflected on the World Communications Day Message of Pope Francis and shared insights into communication gleaned from their varied experiences and backgrounds.
The panel discussion was an important celebration and networking event for Catholics media workers in the Boston area.
