From 29 April-3 May 2016, the Daughters of St. Paul of Lisbon carried out an itinerant event in collaboration with Fr. José Tolentino Mendonça of the Catholic University of Lisbon.
The initiative, which consisted of meetings, presentations and conferences in various cities, was organized to celebrate the visit to Portugal of Czech theologian Fr. Tomá? Halík, one of the most widely-read authors in Portuguese. The winner of the Templeton Prize in 2014, Halík is recognized internationally for his work as an advocate for dialogue among different faiths and non-believers. While in Portugal, he took part in a commemoration ceremony at Fort São Julião da Barra for 170 Jesuits captured in Portuguese colonies. This was followed by a brief visit to Fatima.
His itinerary then took him to the FSP Book Center of Porto, the Universities of Braga and Coimbra, and ended in the Culturgest in Lisbon, in which almost a thousand people participated. Fr. Halík’s program and activities were sponsored by the Portuguese Embassy and that of the Czech Republic.
