In the context of an initiative entitled, Read: Pavia 2013–a civic celebration characterized by meetings and numerous literary events held in the streets of the city–the FSPs of Pavia participated in a public reading of excerpts from Pope Francis’ newly-released book, published by Pauline Editions, Italy.

The reading, which took place in Cathedral Square, was accompanied by brief reflections guided by several priests of the diocese. To make the event as interactive as possible, the excerpts selected for reading and commentary were chosen by the public, who sent in their suggestions by email prior to the event.

That same afternoon, the children of the city were invited to participate in a reading workshop that followed the format of a popular game known as “Giro dell’Oca Joca.” Those who would like to know more about this cultural event, by means of which an entire city is trying to unite its members to one another through a love of reading, can click on the link: www.leggere.pavia.it
