The FSPs of Uruguay, who participated in Montevideo’s 31st International Book Fair held from 9-14 October, took advantage of the occasion to present their “Bioethics” trilogy (Fundamental of Bioethics, Bioethics and the Beginning of Life, and Bioethics and the End of Life) by Fr. Omar França Tarrago.

After recalling his mother, who as a true teacher encouraged him to seek knowledge and the truth, Fr. Tarrago thanked his Jesuit instructors, saying that they had taught him to think, love, discern and make decisions for the glory of God. He said that he had been motivated to write about bioethics due to his concern about problems in Uruguayan society such as tax evasion, intolerance, the scarce interest of young people in starting a family, an increase in the purchase of stolen goods, piracy, and a widespread distrust of politicians and other public servants.

Sr. Franca Orizio, fsp, guided the encounter, which offered the FSPs a chance to help people become more aware of many ethical problems that plague contemporary society.
