The town council of Grezzana (Verona), Italy has awarded Sr. Maria Rosa Ballini, fsp, its ?Citizen of the Year Award? for 2010 in honor of her outreach to the needy in developing countries.
We are sure that from heaven Sr. Maria Rosa is very appreciative of this posthumous recognition bestowed on her by her hometown. To speak of Sr. Maria Rosa means opening one?s heart to immense Africa, where she joyously and zealously carried out the Pauline apostolate for many years.

We cannot help but recall the great good she did to the people of this continent, especially through vast quantity of Bibles she diffused in its English-speaking countries. In the last years of her life, Sr. Maria Rosa fecundated the seed she had scattered so abundantly with the offering of her illness and sufferings, and we join our voice to that of the people of Grezzana in thanking her profoundly for her love for the Word of God and for the passion with which she communicated it to others.
