To celebrate fifty years of the Second Vatican Council, a National Symposium on the Social Doctrine of the Church was organized in Bombay, during this year of faith.

The Symposium was attended by more than 500 delegates, who came from various parts of the country: bishops, priests, religious, laity and also by three Daughters of St. Paul. The entire Symposium turned out to be an insightful reflection on the documents of the Council, as well as a verification of how the Council was received in India.

Other strong themes that emerged were: human rights, poverty, violence against women, ecology and the ecosystem, youth suicide, and the means of social communication. On this occasion, the Paulines also set up a stand with multimedia materials that could help deepen the various topics discussed.
