Mercy: the Language of the Heart

On 20 November, the FSP Multimedia Center in Rome welcomed the public to an encounter entitled, Mercy: The Language of the Heart. About 120 people gathered with great pleasure to listen to guest speaker Cardinal Walter Kasper and welcome his invitation to pass this mercy on to others.

For Christians, the Cardinal said, there is no other spirituality than that of the mercy demonstrated by the Good Samaritan because mercy is the name of God himself. Only mercy can unite people and break the vicious circle of hate. We cannot witness to the Christian faith, he underscored, without witnessing to mercy because mercy is the very heart of the Gospel. The Cardinal’s whole talk was aimed at reawakening our awareness of this and prompting us to take a closer look at what messages we are communicating to others through the testimony of our life.
