With more than 1,200,000 visitors, Argentina’s annual International Book Fair turned out to be one of the country’s most popular events this year. Huge crowds of people mixed and mingled in the almost 50,000 sq. km. display area, visiting stands in which a total 1,623 authors signed books and spoke with their fans.
For the first time in its history, the Fair was visited by two Nobel prize winners for literature: Peruvian Mario Vargas Llosa and South African John M. Coetzee. The presence of the two authors drew thousands of people eager to listen to their testimonies and input–clear proof that the Fair is recognized as Latin America’s most important cultural event.
The FSPs organized literary encounters in their stand that captured the interest of numerous people and gave rise to lively discussions. Our sisters say that their most widely diffused publications at the event were the text Madre Teresa and the papal document Amoris Laetitia.
