The Book Bank set up by a group of volunteers in Verona is encouraging the city’s residents to stop by one of the 9 city book stores participating in the project to purchase “the book that changed their lives” so as to make a gift of it to prison inmates and minors in the rehabilitation homes run by the Don Calabria Institute.

From 16-18 December, 130 volunteers–for the most part students from various higher-education Institutes–will be on hand in specifically-cited book stores (including 2 FSP book centers) to help good-hearted Veronese choose and purchase a book to donate to the groups targeted by this Project.

The purpose of the Book Bank Project–the first ever held in Italy–is to sensitize readers and non-readers alike to the importance of expanding one’s cultural horizons, with special focus on providing quality reading material to individuals in needy situations.
