Carrying Out Vocation Work as a Community

The Daughters of St. Paul in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, have been holding an annual encounter for young women ever since 1995. This year their meeting took the form of a three-day “vocation experience” in the Abidjan community.
All five members of the community contributed to the event by inviting young women to participate in it and by animating it in various ways so as to ensure that the participants’ search for God would be an enthusiastic one. The young women were very interested in the themes presented and also enjoyed watching the film, “Thecla: A Life for the Gospel.”
Abundant time was dedicated to answering their many questions, and a daily hour of adoration helped them learn to relish their time with the Lord.
The 3-day itinerary concluded with a festive celebration, during which the participants expressed their satisfaction with the experience and said they would like to continue to meet with the sisters periodically so as to continue the journey begun.
