With great joy we want to share the news that Sr. Gervis Monteiro da Silva, FSP, will be participating in the Synod for the Pan-Amazon region, to be held at the Vatican from 6-27 October 2019. The theme of the Special Assembly is: “Amazonia: New Paths for the Church and for an Integral Ecology.”
Why was Sr. Gervis chosen for this honor and responsibility?
Basically because she comes from the Amazon region, is very familiar with the situation of her people and, moreover, as a Daughter of St. Paul, has evangelization as a charism and mission.
It is our hope that Sr. Gervis, together with other Brazilians, will participate intensely in the Synod so as to represent well the reality of the region, its 34 million inhabitants and the people carrying out the work of evangelization in this immense area. We also hope that after the Synod she will enrich all of us with her experiences at this event and the knowledge she acquired there.
