Jesus reveals the Father to us in His Sonship
Mt 11:2-11
What did you go out into
the wilderness to see?
For the Jewish people,
illness was considered a curse,
an inability to relate to God,
an unworthiness.
Jesus’ choice is not to perform “little miracles,”
a few healings to become famous,
but to reveal in a radical way that God is not just what you believe,
because He is infinitely more than you expect.
Jesus reveals everything we must and can know about the Father,
and to do this, He acts according to a new criterion:
that of closeness,
of care,
of reconciliation,
of relationship.
This Sunday reminds us that every day
we absolutely need a Word of life
for our existence,
a Word of hope
amidst our ruins.
