On 23 June, the FSP Multimedia Center in Rome welcomed writer and Vatican reporter Luigi Accatoli, who presented Pope Francis’ new encyclical, Laudato Si. Introduced by Elisa Storace, a journalist for TV2000, Accattoli offered his listeners valuable keys for reading the document, which, the Pope writes, “is directed to every person living on this planet.” The ample and compelling text should be read with an open and attentive heart.
According to Accatoli, the Pope addresses the world in the conviction that he can influence its destiny and it is this extraordinary trust that gives his message great force. He writes as a spokesman for the human family, calling all people to make a discernment concerning their way of life and, in the light of this, implement the changes necessary to save our earth. “We don’t know if the cry of the Pope will be heeded,” Accatoli concluded, “but we can be sure that there is no other person today who can make such a convincing appeal for human solidarity.” The encyclical is available in Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and English in the Multimedia Center.
