From September 12 to 16, the 44th National Bible Week was held in the auditorium of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, in Rome, with the theme “Let us make human beings… male and female” (Gen 1:26).  Declensions of gender polarity in the Holy Scriptures.

Biblical scholars from France, Austria and the best universities in Italy have contributed with their speeches to enlighten and deepen the gender polarity in some books of the Bible: from Genesis to the Song of Songs, from the Book of Tobit to the Proverbs, from the Letters of St. Paul to the Gospel of John, from the letter to the Ephesians to the First letter of Peter. There have been interesting inputs on the apocrypha of the Old and New Testament, such as the Acts of Paul and Thecla. A great work of research, dialogue and confrontation has characterized the task of the sixteen speakers and the numerous participants during the Biblical Week organized and supported by the Italian Bible Association.

Among the most significant moments: the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, and the long-awaited audience with Pope Francis in the Clementine Hall.  For the Paulines, two sisters engaged in the biblical sector of Editoriale Libri of Milan, attended the event.
