Our sisters of Johannesburg held a seminar in their book center on 17 November to study the key aspects of the Year of Faith and how to live them in the family and parish contexts, taking as their point of departure the treasures to be found in Pope Benedict XVI’s document, Porta Fidei.
The main points that emerged were:
• to evangelize is a meaningful expression of Christian love to be carried out by everyone;
• to evangelize is to live and share the great gift of faith;
• to evangelize is to help the Good News permeate every area of one’s personal life and the life of society;
• to evangelize is to respectfully foster the spiritual growth of others.
The meeting offered its participants a valuable chance to share their experiences of faith and evangelization. And the conclusion they reached was that what counts is faith–a faith anchored and built up in the Lord and in the ecclesial community because faith alone is able to transform individuals and the world.
