Diocesan Book Centers at the Service of Evangelization and Human Development: this was the theme of a seminar organized by the Daughters of St. Paul for those in the Church called to run diocesan book centers at the service of the Gospel.

The encounter was held in Nairobi from 14-19 July 2014 and was attended with great interest by persons in charge of diocesan book centers in Kenya and Ethiopia.

The FSP team that guided the event helped the participants reflect more deeply on several indispensable aspects of the theme so as to come to a deeper understanding of the mission of the diocesan book center in the contemporary Church.

Various speakers addressed the following subjects:

–        the vocation of the laity in the Church
–        Fr. Alberione’s view of the book center
–        the choice of content
–        book center organization, administration and management
–        management of human resources and personnel
–        marketing and diffusion strategies.

The input was enriched by practical aspects and by a guided tour of all the apostolic departments of the Pauline mission: from the editorial room to the typography, from the audiovisual sector to the distribution agency; from the administration department to the organization of the book center.

At the end of the seminar, all the participants received a diploma of attendance as a sign of their responsible commitment to the service of the Gospel. Joy and a vision of hope for the future were the fruits of this event, which opened new paths to God’s saving Truth.
