This year’s Ratzinger Prize, instituted by the Vatican Foundation dedicated to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, has been awarded to Lebanese theologian Nabil el-Khoury, who has translated into Lebanese the works of Joseph Ratzinger, and Brazilian theologian Fr. Mario de França Miranda, sj, who was a member of the International Theological Commission for 10 years during the period in which then-cardinal Ratzinger was its president.

In these years, the Ratzinger Foundation has collaborated with more than 500 universities worldwide, involving more than 10,000 students and professors in its activities.

In the days following the award ceremony, a Library dedicated to Benedict XVI in the Vatican’s Teutonic College was also inaugurated. The Pope Emeritus has donated more than 200 of his own books to the Library.
