The FSPs of Italy are using the income from authors’ rights deriving from the sale of a number of their publications to collaborate with various solidarity projects. This year, thanks in part to dissemination of the book Un gancio in mezzo al cielo by Giulia Gabrieli, who died of cancer at the age of 14, they were able to help the young author fulfill a cherished dream posthumously, namely: the organization of summer camp sessions for children in the Bergamo area who are obliged to spend prolonged periods of time in the hospital.

This project–for now the only one of its kind in Italy–not only gave these young patients a chance to improve their health but also offered them the opportunity to participate in a variety of stimulating workshops: photography, English lessons, cineforums, poetry, science, literature, creative writing, art, games, mathematics, and the study of Italian for immigrant children.
