The European Commission, in collaboration with the Campania region and Naples City Council Department of Culture and Tourism has organized an event called OLE.01, the first International Festival of Electronic Literature, which is being held in Naples from 1-31 October 2014.

The purpose of the Festival is to help people get to know and make known, investigate and reflect on how technology and the World Wide Web in particular is influencing the various aspects of art and literature: fiction and non-fiction, music and videos, photography, dance, theater, poetry, painting, etc. Technology has not only changed the way we produce and/or enjoy art, but has also changed their content, expression and even their language.

In fact, from journalism on a collective blog with video installations capable of interacting with the visitor to e-books and interactive fiction, a favorite language style now is that used by social network posts, tweets and sms messages. “Technology has provided human creativity with extraordinary potential,” says Lello Masucci, the Festival’s Artistic Director. “Electrify your imagination is the slogan of the event and that is precisely what e-literature does. The Festival hopes to sensitize all its participants to this fact.”
