The new technologies have changed the daily lives of people in many ways, sometimes positively, as for example in sensitizing the public to important issues, and sometimes negatively since the use of these technologies can pose serious risks to individuals, especially children.
A recent study carried out by GSMA (International Association of Mobile Phone Operators) said that 69% of the children in Europe and Japan have their own smartphones, which makes it possible for them to access the Internet and numerous applications that are not suitable for young people. Insufficient dialogue between parents and children further complicates the situation because these information vehicles sometimes replace absent parents, giving minors digital guidance and allowing the media to take on the teaching role that properly belongs to mothers and fathers. It would be well to keep in mind that young people today are not always aware of the risks they run when using the sophisticated technologies they have in hand.
