The logo of the 31stWorld Youth Day, which will be held in Krakow, Poland during the summer of 2016, was crafted by Monika Rybczynskia, a 28-year-old Polish woman.
The design features the cross of Christ situated within an outline of the map of Poland. A yellow circle marks the location of Krakow on the map. From the cross two stylized flames–one blue, one red–representing the rays of Divine Mercy, surge upward. The rays do double service because they are also the arms of a young person, who is embracing the cross. The yellow circle indicating the location of Krakow performs the same service, doubling as the head of the young person in prayer.
Together with the logo, the official prayer of WYD has also been made public.
