The Templeton Prize, one of the highest international recognitions for persons in the religious field, has been awarded this year to Jean Vanier, the Canadian Catholic philosopher, theologian and author who founded the first l’Arche community and the Faith and Light Movement. The two support networks have been assisting the mentally disabled for over 50 years. “People with mental disabilities make us more human,” Vanier said. “They are beautiful people, people of the heart!”.
