A New Humanism in Jesus Christ: this is the theme of Italy’s Fifth National Ecclesial Congress, which will be held in Florence from 9-13 November. Pope Francis will participate in the event on 10 November. During this encounter, the Church in Italy will reflect on the challenges facing the proclamation of the Gospel in the contemporary world.
In particular, the Church must be ready to abandon its traditional places and securities so as to reach out to all peoples, seeking them out in their cultural, social, economic, political and work environments. With this in mind, the talks and discussions will take place within a missionary-cultural framework. The purpose of the Congress is to study more profoundly, in the light of faith, everything that concerns the human being on the cultural and pastoral levels so as to foster greater commitment to evangelization and witness of life.
