On Holy Saturday, 18 April, the Archdiocese of Manila will hold a “penitential procession” winding 7 km. through the city to ask the Lord for security and protection for the country, which has been martyred by a series of devastating natural disasters–the most recent being Super-Typhoon Yolanda last November.

Promoted by Catholic broadcasting stations in Manila, TV Maria and Radio Veritas, the Way of the Cross for Good Weather will start out from St. John of God Hospital in Pasay City and end at the Manila Cathedral.

Members of all the capital’s 500 parishes will take part in the procession, which will begin at 5:00 a.m. Upon reaching the Cathedral, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle will guide the participants in a reflection and give them his solemn blessing.
