The Giffoni Film Festival, the largest children’s film festival in Europe and possibly the world, is celebrating its 45th edition, which this year revolves around the theme: Carpe Diem: Seize the Day, the advice Professor Keating (alias Robin Williams) gives his students in the celebrated movie, Dead Poets Society. In fact, the directors of the Festival wanted to dedicate this year’s event to the actor, who died in July 2014.

The 100 films competing in the contest have been sent in from all over the world. A panel of 3,600 children, divided into 6 age groups, will judge the films and award the best ones with prizes. The young people on the jury come from 52 different countries, including Syria, Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. All the films in the competition recount stories of courage, love and friendship, and strive to convey to their young audiences a love for life and the courage to follow their dreams.
