The Contract, directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso from Ghana, has been voted as this year’s best film in the Africa Magic Viewer Choice Awards.
AMVCA is an annual African event, initiated in 2013, to reward outstanding achievement in television and films through a public voting system. The awards ceremony took place in Lagos, Nigeria–the heart of the continent’s cinema and home video industry.
Besides winning the statuette for best picture, the film won awards in three other categories. The Contract, a romantic comedy, is the story of a wealthy bachelor who, tired of superficial relationships, makes a contract with a woman because he wants a child.
