First Prize to Film on Forgiveness

The documentary One Day After Peace has won first prize at the 16th Religion Today Film Festival. The award ceremony for this year’s the prize winners was held in the San Marco Theater in Trent, Italy.

Set in Israel, the winning documentary, directed by Erez and Miri Laufer, recounts a dialogue between a woman from South Africa and the Palestinian who killed her son, with the woman proposing the South African model of reconciliation as a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Signis, the World Catholic Association for Communications, awarded the same documentary its first prize this year.

During the Film Festival Awards Ceremony, special recognition was given to the Iranian film Expecting a Miracle, directed by Rasoul Sadrameli, and the German short film Existentia, directed by David Clay, on the theme of the crisis of faith.

The 2013 Religion Today Film Festival will be visiting other major cities throughout Italy, giving people the chance to take advantage of the film medium to examine their beliefs and doubts, and the degree of their faith and witness. Besides workshops, the Festival’s itinerary includes activities for schools, a seminar at the Salesian University and a conference at La Sapienza University, Rome.
