Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò’s latest book, Il Vaticano II e la comunicazione. Una rinnovata storia tra Vangelo e società, published by Pauline Editions, was presented in a book launch held by the FSPs in Milan on 24 January 2013.

The book reveals the complexity of the historico-religious context in which Vatican Council II took place and highlights how the Council initiated an absolutely new style of pontificate in an era in which, on the international level, major changes were taking place in society, especially in the fields of culture and the mass media.

The author says: “What remains to be done? Probably to re-think ourselves in the movement of the Spirit characteristic of Vatican II, and learn to listen to one another in an unbiased way. The question that powerfully emerges goes beyond the necessary competence of the media with regard to language, formats and instruments, and invites us all to live the experience of believers as ‘born from above’ (Jn. 3:3) so that our life, our witness and our communication will be a work of the Spirit, the only One capable of drawing us into the heart of the Father.”

Pope Benedict XVI recently appointed Msgr. Viganò as the new director of the Vatican TV Center and Secretary of the Center’s Administration Council. We offer him our sincere best wishes for a fruitful apostolate.
