To evangelize Europe’s soul–the contribution of social communications. This is the theme of the gathering for the bishops responsible for social communications of the Bishops Conferences of Europe.

The meeting, taking place fifty years after the Conciliar Decree Inter Mirifica, was held in Barcelona from November 8 to 10. Through the contribution of numerous experts, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the missionary activity of the Church in Europe, Pope Francis’ communication style, the use of new technologies by the Holy See.

Bishop José Ignacio Munilla Aguirre, who chairs the CCEE Commission for social communications, said on the eve of this meeting: “With the world development in social communications, we see a tendency in the European continent, deeply Christian, to act as if God did not exist. Given this context, the Church is responsible for evangelizing the soul of our continent which needs, more than ever, the Gospel truth.”
