To celebrate World Radio Day, the Spanish Radio Academy awarded its International Radio Prize this year to Vatican Radio.
The Radio’s General Director, Fr. Federico Lombardi, who is also the spokesperson for the Holy See, participated in the event by means of a videomessage broadcast during the ceremony, which was held in Madrid. In his speech, Fr. Lombardi underscored that Vatican Radio is striving to uphold its glorious heritage, namely, its commitment to serving the Church by facilitating dialogue and unity among all peoples.

“Vatican Radio,” he reminded his audience, “naturally stresses religious communication, especially that of the Catholic Church. But its service has always embraced a very wide range of issues and problems such as peace, religious freedom, human rights, and dialogue between different religions and various Christian groups.”
