Blessed James Alberione and Diffusion of the Pius X Catechism: this is the title of the talk Sr. Bruna Fregni, FSP, delivered at the International Study Congress on Pope Pius X, held in Treviso, Italy on 24 October and in Venice, Italy on 25 October 2013. More than 250 people attended the Congress, which centered on the theme: Reforming Catholicism? The Activities and Choices of Pius X.

The centenary of the death of St. Pius X (20 August 1914–20 August 2014) coincides with the centenary of the Pauline Family, providing us with an important opportunity to reread the first years of our Founder’s priestly ministry in the light of the figure of this great Pope and his influence on priestly formation.

Fr. Alberione always considered catechesis to be a priority for the Pauline Family and for the Daughters of St. Paul in particular, who from the very beginning of their Institute dedicated themselves to disseminating to the families the Catechism of Christian Doctrine promulgated by Pope Pius X. Over the years, they added to this a wealth of products prepared by our Pauline Catechetical Center: books, study aids, audiovisuals, magazines, etc.–all aimed at making the doctrine of the Church known, loved and lived.
