During the celebration of World Catechists Day (28-29 September 2013) in this Year of Faith, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, announced that a new app on the Catechism of the Catholic Church for tablets and smartphones is now available free of charge thanks to the generosity of the Italian Bishops Conference, which is subsidizing it.
The new device, he said, will allow people to have the Catechism and its Compendium at their fingertips so as to make it easier to consult these texts and their biblical references and facilitate their research of terms and reference texts. The app will allow them to transfer this material via Facebook, Twitter, etc.
