The Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations organized a week-long conference in New York, USA, entitled, Women: Promoters of Human Dignity, to celebrate a day dedicated to the “genius of women,” as St. John Paul II termed it. “A deeper recognition and a greater appreciation of the feminine genius are the keys to combating violence against women and the defense of human dignity.”

With these words, Archbishop Bernard Auza, the Holy See’s permanent observer, opened the conference. He then went on to remind everyone that “if all of us are called to love, women excel at this because they quickly identify the needs of others and respond to them promptly.”
