SOUTH AFRICA
20 Years of Presence

In 1994, our Congregation launched its Missionary Project, which included the opening of a community in Johannesburg on 12 April of that same year.

A little over three weeks later, the election of Nelson Mandela to the presidency started the nation on the road to democracy by abolishing the apartheid system in vigor for decades, so we can say that our newly-arrived sisters made this journey alongside the people of South Africa. Twenty years of service and apostolic dedication….

Fully aware that everything accomplished was done with the help of the Lord, it comes spontaneously to us to join our sisters in praising and thanking him for guiding this little community over the past two decades. Blessed James Alberione said that the presence of the FSPs in South Africa is very precious because our sisters have always sought to promote a journey of democracy and equality, without discrimination as to skin color or social status.

His words “always onward, Daughters of St. Paul!” continue to urge them on today, impelling them to constantly seek new ways to proclaim the Gospel in this nation.
