June 15, 1915 is considered the birthday of the Daughters of St. Paul, a branch of the Pauline Family founded by James Alberione in Alba.
On that day, Fr. Alberione opened the “feminine workshop”, destined to form young women dedicated to evangelization through the press, catechesis, and eventually the modern means of communication. This event is recognized as the official beginning of the Institute.
A key figure in the beginnings of the Congregation was Tecla Merlo (also known as Teresa Merlo), who embraced the project of Fr. Alberione and became the first Superior General, making a significant contribution to the development and expansion of the Institute throughout the world. This is why she is remembered as the Co-Foundress of the Daughters of St. Paul.
