“Media Fasting: Six Weeks to Recharge in Christ” was published just in time for Lent as a guide for people who live, work, and have their being in our digital, mediated world. Written by Sr. Nancy Usslemann, F.S.P., Director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies in Los Angeles, CA., with a foreword by the actor Jonathan Roumie (“The Chosen”), the book is divided into two parts:
Part One explains fasting, how to do a media fast, and the many benefits of fasting for the mind, body, and spirit. It includes a guide on how to create a personal fasting plan.
Part Two guides the reader through six weeks of daily mindful moments focused on media usage, enhancing one’s spiritual life, and providing suggestions to support a media fasting plan. Each week is centered around a theme:
- Paring Down to the Essentials
- Choosing the Good Life
- Being Media Mindful
- Becoming Cultural Mystics
- Creating Communion, and
- Transforming the Culture.
Media fasting is an energy boost in your journey toward a healthy and holy existence within the media culture. This book is a guide to recharge our lives in Christ and challenge us to live more meaningfully, especially during Lent.
