Twitter is celebrating its 12th birthday this year. In fact, it was created in March 2006 and officially launched in July of that year.
To celebrate this event, the social networking service has undertaken a review of how many people use it, removing from the count profiles that refer to automatic services or those that are clearly false. The result is that currently there are about 336 million active users.
Among the biggest innovations of the platform in recent years: the use of hashtags to help users find messages on specific themes or content, and the doubling of characters from 140 to 280, which occurred in November 2017.
