The yearning to understand the Bible and read it more profoundly was so strong it could almost be touched during the feast held to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the project: Do you understand what you are reading? Public Reading of the Bible.
The initiative was launched in 2001 by Mediaspaul, Canada, in response to a growing plea on the part of the public for the chance to become more familiar with the Word of God. Since then, 105 Bible reading encounters have been held.
The organizers of the project write: “Our activity responds to the need for a socio-spiritual journey anchored in one’s specific territory. We hope that this initiative will continue because it is a very valid tool for helping people get to the know context and inexhaustible wealth of the Bible texts.”
Do you understand what you are reading? has been promoted from the beginning by Carrefour Participation, Resources and Formation (CPRF) in collaboration with the FSP Multimedia Center in Montreal, Canada.
