First World Day of the Poor

“Let us love not with words but with deeds.”

This is the title and at the same time the invitation of the Message of Pope Francis for the First World Day of the Poor, to be celebrated on 19 November. Established by the Holy Father in his Apostolic Letter, Misericordia et misera, at the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, the new World Day precedes the Feast of Christ the King of the Universe, the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year, because, as the Pope writes in his Message, “The kingship of Christ is most evident on Golgotha, when the Innocent One, nailed to the cross, poor, naked and stripped of everything, incarnates and reveals the fullness of God’s love.”
