On 21 June 2023, the 10th General Chapter of the Pious Disciples of the Divine Master elected Sr M. Bernardita Meráz Sotelo Superior General of the Institute for the next six-year period (2023-2029).
Sr M. Bernardita was born on 27 February 1958 in El Molino (Namiquipa province), Chihuahua, Mexico. A Pious Disciple since 25 March 1977, she holds a Licentiate in Psychology (1991-1995), a Master’s Degree in Gestalt Therapy (2005), and a Diploma in Vocation Ministry.
Up to now, she has also been Director of the Kairos Program, accompanying priests and religious from different congregations in therapy and diagnostics. Contemporaneously, she is the formator of the temporary professed sisters.
She previously served as regional superior and provincial superior in her Congregation and also as Apostolic Visitor for the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
