With great dedication and passion, the Daughters of St. Paul of Bandra (Mumbai) recently organized and conducted a symposium to celebrate the Year of Mercy. Entitled Mercy Beyond Boundaries: Interfaith Perspectives, the event featured highly professional and eminent speakers from the Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Christian communities, who competently and beautifully explained an aspect of mercy found in their respective religions. FSP Pauline Chakkalacal spoke on behalf of Christianity.
The participants, about 250 in number, included both young and old people (priests, religious and laity) from various walks of life, who represented the different religions cited above. All expressed their gratitude to the sisters for having organized the encounter, which they said helped them increase their knowledge of the good to be found in each religious tradition.
The meeting ended with a singing of the Indian national anthem, in which everyone wholeheartedly participated.
