The FSPs of Johannesburg held a second meeting on the encyclical Laudato Sì, during which the participants reflected on the theme, Ecology, Formation and Spirituality in the context of the Social Doctrine of the Church.

Guest speaker Jan Jans, professor of ethics at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, saw the topic as an invitation to embark on a path of renewal and a new style of life that require an ecological conversion so as to attain joy, peace, beauty and harmony.

He concluded his conference by emphasizing that consumerism is destroying our common home and said that what is needed is ecological and spiritual education after the example of St. Francis, St. Ignatius and St. Therese of the Child Jesus, whose motto was “do small things well.”
