The Good Shepherd Peace Centre was recently inaugurated in the town of Kit, not far from South Sudanese capital of Juba. The purpose of the new Centre is to provide Christians with human, spiritual and pastoral formation, focusing in a special way on the care of persons traumatized by the country’s ongoing war.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were Archbishop Charles Balvo, the Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan, Paulino Lukudu, the Archbishop of Juba, and other bishops and priests. “This Centre will be a positive force in the search for peace in this young country,” said Fr. Daniele Moschetti, President of the Association of Male Religious Superiors of South Sudan. “It is a gift of hope for the people of this nation, in particular all those who will benefit from the formation they receive here. It is also an important sign that the Catholic Church is concretely working for peace, justice and reconciliation through its personnel and structures.”
