From 2-6 May, the XXII Plenary Assembly of the International Union of Superiors General was held at the Ergife Hotel in Rome, Italy and also online. About 700 Superiors General, 520 of whom reside in Rome, took part in the event.

The participants were from 71 different countries. The continent most represented was Europe, where many of the Congregations’ General Houses are located. The most represented country from Africa was the Democratic Republic of the Congo; from Asia, it was India; from North America, the USA; from Central and South America, Mexico and Brazil.

The week of meetings, which centered on the theme of Synodality, was enriched by the input of more than 10 speakers, who focused on 5 key words: Vulnerability, the Synodal Process, Religious Life and Synodality, Peripheries, and Calls to Transformation.

The purpose of the Assembly was to contribute to the synodal process of the Church by encouraging deep listening in a synodal style and adopting the dynamic of common discernment, in which vulnerability was recognized as a typically human characteristic.

The Daughters of St. Paul actively participated in the event through the presence of their Superior General, Sr. Anna Caiazza, and a large display of books in various languages.
