The 9th General Chapter of the Pastorelle Sisters is underway in Rome from 29 June–16 July 2017. The theme to prepare for this important congregational event was: “Woman, behold your son!” The Prophetic Gift of Pastoral Maternity.
In explaining the reasons behind this choice of subject, the Sisters say:
“In our journey up to now as communities and as a Congregation, we feel strongly interpellated by the words: Woman, behold your Son! In this declaration, we glimpse the prophetic thrust radiating from our charism, namely: pastoral motherhood toward contemporary humanity, which has an ever-increasing need to be listened to, accepted, accompanied and taken care of in a personalized way.
“In our time, which is troubled but also overflowing with appeals of the Spirit, our vocation can shine in the Church like never before in all its beauty and timeliness. Ahead of us is a prospect that asks us not only for conversion from our weariness and lack of trust, but also the courage we need to serve wounded humanity as mothers and sisters with big, humble hearts and discreet, hardworking hands.”
