Feast of Mary, Queen of Apostles

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
members of our Aggregated Institutes
and Pauline Cooperators:

On this day that unites all of us around Mary Most Holy, our Mother, Teacher and Queen of Apostles, we want to make public the Prayer and Logo that the Central Biblical Commission has prepared for the Pauline Family’s Year of the Bible, which will open on 26 November, the 49th anniversary of the eternal Easter of Blessed James Alberione, our Founder.

The prayer is freely inspired by a text written by Fr. James Alberione and published in his book, Leggete le Sacre Scritture (Read the Holy Scriptures), p. 320 (Attachment 1).

The logo is accompanied by an explanation to facilitate the understanding and application of it to initiatives programmed for the Biblical Year (Attachment 2).

We entrust to Mary, Queen of Apostles, the life and apostolate of the Pauline Family during this Year for which we are preparing. May she, who was first a disciple by welcoming the Word of God into her womb, and then a mother by giving birth to that Word in Jesus of Nazareth, guide our steps so that the Word of the Lord might speed forward in us and around us, in the culture of communication.

In this light, renewing the apostolic vision of Fr. Alberione, let us penetrate more profoundly the words he addressed to us, because they are still very up to date: “By ‘edition,’ we do not mean only a book. Other things are included in the term, which has many applications: the edition of a periodical, the editions of those who prepare film scripts, television programs, things to be communicated by radio…. ‘Edidit nobis Salvatorem,’ says the Liturgy, using the verb ‘edidit’ to declare that the Blessed Virgin gave us the Savior. The word ‘edition’ also includes the artistic dimension: the effort to produce an object that is liturgical and at the same time artistic, as well as the mission of the Sisters who are trained to teach the catechism to children and then, in charity, concretely do this (For a Spiritual Renewal).

With best wishes for a fruitful journey of preparation for the upcoming Year, we send you our greetings.
