Sr. Carly Paula Arcella and Sr. Helen Rita Lane, members of our FSP Toronto community, recently had the joy of proclaiming the Gospel in the Diocese of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory, Northwest Canada. Only 6 priests and several deacons are involved in the active ministry in this diocese of 23 small village parishes. The priests take turns visiting these villages twice a month. They are assisted by lay ministers who lead the community in a communion service on the other weekends.

When our Book and Media Center in Anchorage, Alaska was still open, the sisters used to make twice-a-year visits to the Yukon Territory, which covers an area larger than Belgium, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands combined. Now, from Toronto, their apostolic visits are less frequent but very full.

The Bishop of Whitehorse generously provided the sisters with means of transportation and places to stay during their visit, helping them organize their week-long sojourn in such a way as to experience the itinerant lifestyle of those involved with the Church ministry in this vast area.

During their grace-filled time in Whitehorse, the sisters carried out the Pauline mission joyfully and were able to see for themselves the faith and dedication of the clergy, lay ministers, and people in this beautiful harvest-field of the Lord.
